Project Nexus update

Xoserve provides a central service for the Gas Transporters in Britain and manages all of the key information associated with approximately 22 million gas supply points. Xoserve’s ageing and limited system UK Link currently underpins all of the settlement and registration processes in the gas industry. However, Project Nexus facilitates the replacement of UK Link with new system which will provide a number of new functions and speed up existing processes.

After several years of preparation that has included suppliers updating IT systems to work with Xoserve’s new systems, Ofgem recently made the final decision that Project Nexus will go live on 1st  June 2017 and industry is working hard to ensure that the deployment is a success. Customers are currently experiencing longer gas registration lead times than normal as communication between suppliers and Xoserve is limited for a number of ‘non-effective days’ over the transitional period however registration timescales will return to normal for registrations initiated from 6th June 2017.
