Opus Energy named in Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to work for!

After being ranked number one for SME customer service in the latest Datamonitor survey, we’re very proud to announce that Opus Energy is now on The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to work for list.

The survey is conducted by a national independent research company, and polls employees to find out about levels of workplace engagement, measuring leadership, employee wellbeing and charitable efforts, among other qualities.

With more than 600 employees across the Midlands, Opus Energy debuted at position 87 – the only company headquartered in Northampton to feature on the list. This position is thanks to a number of wellbeing programmes that employees benefit directly from, including private healthcare, schemes to motivate health and fitness, shopping and spa discounts, the option to buy extra benefits which are company-subsidised, a company-matched pension scheme and more.

On top of these personal benefits, Opus Energy has a strong charity focus. 93% of Opus Energy employees feel that charitable activities are actively encouraged, the seventh highest score out of all 100 businesses on the list. In 2014, we managed to smash all of our fundraising targets, raising over £25,000 for Mencap, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People and Beating Bowel Cancer – three charities that were selected by an employee vote.

“We implemented a new approach to ultimately ensure that our employees know we are as dedicated to them as we are to our customers, which has paid off. Our employee retention rates have increased, and 60% of management roles now go to internal candidates.”

    We are very pleased to be associated with a company that ensures sustainable energy for its customers and the care of its employees, shame that a lot of companies are not following your example such as many of the exploitative companies currently highlighted in the press. My association with OPUS Energy has been very positive especially during our crisis in July last year and one employee that stands out is Vicky Blount from metering for her help and assistance in sorting through the problems and relieving my distress. All the staff on customer services should be commended for their patience on answering queries. Lets hope that it continues with the latest buy out!
